SCF Partners was bringing together four completions and wireline companies from around North America to form a new and different kind of oilfield services company. The new company would have resources of the large majors and the responsiveness and customer service of the small independents. Our assignment was to build a brand that reflects how radically different this new company is.
Most oilfield services companies take a very conservative and stale approach to business models and brand identity. The new company challenged this old, inflexible way of thinking and embraced the belief that true differentiation could bring real value to customers. This idea of a radically different way created the foundation for the new brand.
Throughout every aspect of the brand expression, we asked ourselves,” what would the typical oilfield services company do” and then did the opposite. We created the name, Nine, to signal that a new, progressive industry force had arrived. We paired that name with their story as a highly capable, accessible company dedicated to customer success and the never-ending pursuit of perfection. Black & white photography and a bold visual design created a distinctive and authentic look and feel.
